I was honored to complete this mural for my high school orchestra classroom. The people and teachers in that program shaped my high school experience and I was grateful to give back to it in this way. Typical to many public schools, art and music facilities are often under-funded. The trust my teachers placed on me to improve our less than desirable space meant so much to me.

Henri Matisse is one of my biggest artistic inspirations. I frequently draw from his symbols and color palettes he is so well known for. The pink figures frolicking in the center are a reference to his piece, β€œThe Dance.” The other organic shapes resemble his cut-paper works. Borrowing from his abstract style allowed for the elements of this mural to fit seamlessly together.
